about

VII. AQUATIC APE
The Aquatic Ape Theory suggests an alternative view of evolution. Originally proposed by marine biologist Alister Hardy in 1960, this hypothesis stipulates that humans descended from apes who consumed shellfish by the shore, as evidenced by various traits shared by humans today. According to the theory, the phenomenon of mankind standing on two legs may be attributed to these ancestors, who chose to hunt in the fertile and safe habitat of shallow waters instead of dangerous grasslands and forests full of predators. Other potential sources of evidence are our hairless bodies and the fact that our hair grows in the opposite direction of water flow, our subcutaneous fat stores, the webs between our fingers, and our ability to give birth underwater.
